Installing Rubrail

The rubrail was old, faded, and just looked sick.  There appeared to have been some sort of bad patch job in the area shown in the below picture. 

We took off the outer, flexible rubrail to see what condition the inner u-channel was in.  These two pieces are what hold the top of the boat to the hull.  The rubrail came off really easy.

The picture below shows the location of the patch job.  That area of the rubrail was not holding anything together.  We found the u-channel to be in bad shape, so we ended up just taking everything off to start over.

The above picture shows the repair job we did on the seem of the hull.  You can see the mess we made on the hull where the epoxy dripped onto it.  No worries, though.  It will be sanded off later.  We mixed the epoxy to the consistency of peanut butter, but after it sits for a few minutes, the exothermic chemical reaction makes the epoxy a little less viscous.  Wow, that last sentence was redunk.  What is this?  Chem 103?
